Next time you are wandering around the supermarket filling your trolley don’t forget to add a little something extra for a very worthwhile reason – helping to relieve food poverty.

Award winning house builder Miller Homes, is asking visitors to its developments throughout the region, to donate food to support nationwide charity Fare Share, a community food network which receives and distributes donated food to those that are in need. It is in support of a national Miller Homes autumn treats campaign which also aims to help people who find buying a home difficult.

“It is a great opportunity to be able to contribute to the community that we are a part of,” commented Steve McElroy, sales director for Miller Homes Yorkshire. “By rallying the support of our residents, visitors and those in the surrounding neighbourhoods Miller Homes can make a real difference this autumn – a time when the production of food is often celebrated. Donations large or small will be very much appreciated; even a tin of beans will be gratefully received! Miller’s head office team in Wakefield are starting off the donations with the aim of collecting the equivalent to £150 worth of food!”

All non perishable food items will be collected in the sales centres until 22nd October when they will be officially donated to the local Fare Share depot and distributed throughout the local community.

Steve continued, “We are delighted to be able to support different members of the communities which we now feel a big part of. The donated food parcels will certainly help those charities in need of support, but for those people who are a little more fortunate and are looking to purchase their own home, we are pleased to be able to offer a little helping hand too, with our autumn treats campaign.”

Miller Homes’ campaign is certainly spicing things up for house hunters in the region this autumn by throwing 12 months free mortgage payment protection and £500 worth of Marks & Spencer vouchers into its already irresistible new home mix!

House hunters have until 22nd October to take advantage of this impressive Miller menu that includes help with raising a deposit, part exchange or shared equity; with free mortgage protection and £500 of vouchers to sweeten the deal.

Miller Homes currently has 11 developments in the region with house types ranging from one bedroom apartments to five bedroom detached family homes. Various purchase assistance schemes are available on selected properties. For more information, or to find your nearest development, visit: millerhomes.co.uk
