Andy Cheshire, site manager at a Taylor Wimpey development in Blackburn, has had his great work at the housing site recognised in a national awards scheme.

Andy is site manager at Taylor Wimpey Manchester’s The Orchard development on Laburnum Road. He has won a Quality Award from the National House Building Council (NHBC) in its Pride in the Job Awards scheme.

2010 sees the 30th anniversary of the Pride in the Job Awards – the only awards which recognise the work of site managers.

There were more than 13,000 contenders for the Pride in the Job awards this year. Andy is one of just 400 to receive a Quality Award and he now qualifies for the next heat where entrants will battle it out to earn an NHBC Seal of Excellence award.

Winning a Pride in the Job award involves a huge amount of commitment and hard work. Judging is based on 38 different elements of site management, from technical knowledge, consistency in the build process to excellent leadership and organisational skills.

Andy said: “I’m really pleased to be recognised for this award as it’s the first time that I’ve won. I think it shows that we have consistently high standards here and I hope that buyers are reassured by the hard work that we put in.”

Taylor Wimpey Manchester managing director Bob Pickthall has congratulated Andy on his efforts. He said: “To receive the Pride in the Job Quality Award is a great achievement for Andy and is evidence of the high standards our site managers work towards. I’m sure visitors to the development will be very happy to hear that build work is managed by an award winner.

“Only site managers who demonstrate exceptional standards in every area of their work on site and the homes they build are considered for a Pride in the Job award, so we are immensely proud of the recognition Andy has achieved.”

The fantastic range of properties, quiet residential surroundings and close proximity to Blackburn town centre makes The Orchard a highly appealing proposition for would-be housebuyers. The development’s location in Little Harwood provides the perfect location for families, young couples and professionals alike. Prices for a five and six bedroom homes currently start from £173,995.
