North West house sales on the up

New home sales across the North West are reportedly on the up so says Neil Follows, managing director for Manchester-based Persimmon Homes North West.
This straight talking housing expert, who is responsible for the 21 developments that are currently in progress across the North West, suggests that there has been a marked increase in the number of enquiries received from potential purchasers and actual properties sold - an announcement that comes hot on the heels of the company reporting strong half year results, with pre-tax profits of £101.4 million for the six months to 30 June 2010.
Suburbs such as Stafford, Stalybridge and Warrington in particular, have shown the greatest increase, with consistent sales of both family homes and apartments over the last few weeks.
Neil comments: “Despite the ongoing challenges in the business environment, there are people visiting our showhomes and marketing suites who genuinely want to buy. There definitely seems to be an air of optimism locally and, with money starting to become more available, first time buyers in particular are coming to see us to discover the deals that can be had.
“What we would like to see is the banks relaxing their lending criteria and drop their loan-to-values, both of which will help mortgages become much more accessible to the everyday man on the street.”
Persimmon Homes North West is currently building in Baguley, Billinge, Bolton, Bury, Ellesmere Port, Openshaw, Shrewsbury, Stafford, Stalybridge, Warrington and Winstanley.
