UK holidaymakers enjoy benefits of ‘staycations’

20th October 2010 Print

VisitEngland research* has revealed that the trend for UK holidaymakers taking a ‘staycation’ appears to be remaining strong, resulting in almost nine out of 10 (87 per cent) accommodation providers in England reporting they were satisfied with accommodation levels during the 2010 summer season.

Some 76 per cent of operators said that business had either increased (38 per cent) or stayed the same (38 per cent) compared with the same period in 2009, which was a record year for leisure tourism in England. Post Office Travel Insurance is reminding domestic holidaymakers that holiday insurance remains a valuable addition to pack as it can safeguard against cancellations and damage or theft of goods.

With 83 per cent of UK businesses surveyed by the tourism authority feeling confident about the autumn travel season as well, Post Office Travel Insurance is keen to highlight that those people planning to combine overseas holidays with staycations benefit may benefit from an annual travel insurance policy. An annual travel insurance policy often offers the best value for money for holidaymakers combining UK staycation breaks with trips overseas.

Holiday insurance remains a useful item for anyone holidaying in the UK or abroad, as it offers peace of mind when travelling. A Post Office annual holiday insurance policy will provide cover travellers for both overseas and domestic travel, as long as the UK break includes 2 nights of pre-booked accommodation.

Post Office Travel Insurance offers basic, classic or premium travel insurance cover and enables users to add optional extras such as golf or extreme sports cover when opting for classic or premium travel insurance policies**.
