TRYP hotel to open in NYC

Wyndham Hotel Group, part of the Wyndham Worldwide family of companies, today announced it has signed an agreement to open its first TRYP by Wyndham property in North America: the 172-room TRYP New York City - Times Square South.
The hotel, expected to be completed by the second quarter of 2011, is under construction in the heart of Manhattan at 345 West 35th Street between Eighth and Ninth Avenues. Owned by Eros Management Realty, LLC and developed by Flintlock Construction Services, LLC, the hotel will be managed by Wyndham Hotels Management, Inc.

The 172-room TRYP by Wyndham New York City - Times Square South, located in the heart of Manhattan, will become the first TRYP by Wyndham property in North America.
Wyndham Hotel Group acquired the TRYP hotel brand from Sol Meliá Hotels & Resorts of Spain in June. TRYP by Wyndham, a select-service, mid-priced brand, currently caters to business and leisure travelers in cosmopolitan cities including Madrid and Barcelona in Spain; Paris; Lisbon, Portugal; Frankfurt, Germany; Buenos Aires, Argentina; Sao Paulo, Brazil; and Montevideo, Uruguay.
The hotel, located at a historic building site, will put guests within walking distance of key business centers and some of New York City's top attractions, including world-class shopping and dining, Times Square, the Empire State Building and the world-famous Madison Square Garden.
In addition to spacious, standard guest rooms, the TRYP New York City - Times Square South will feature the signature guest rooms that have become a staple of the brand in its European and South American properties. Fitness rooms will feature a fitness machine and complimentary fitness attire, offering guests privacy while maintaining their workout routines. Family rooms will serve as ideal accommodations for families with small children, featuring a large bed for parents and bunk beds for children.
Designer Glen Coben of the Manhattan-based architectural and interior design firm Glen&Company, has infused Mediterranean elements and New York City style into the design plans of the hotel's guest rooms and social spaces.
The hotel will feature a social lobby space, pictured above, as well as a fitness center, business center, function space accommodating up to 100 event attendees and the brand's signature fitness and family guest rooms with bunk beds.Guests will be treated to an open, social environment as they enter the hotel lobby. The property will also feature a fitness center, a business center and function space accommodating up to 100 meeting attendees.
The hotel joins Wyndham Hotels and Resorts sister properties in Manhattan including the Wyndham Garden Hotel Times Square South on West 36th Street, Wyndham Garden Hotel Manhattan Chelsea West on West 24th Street; and the Wingate by Wyndham® on West 35th Street.
The TRYP by Wyndham brand anticipates property openings in Berlin, Medellín, Colombia, and Madrid - its 15th hotel opening in this city - by the end of this year.
As part of a previously announced strategic alliance, Wyndham Hotel Group and Sol Meliá will work together to develop the TRYP by Wyndham brand globally and market the brand through their central reservations systems and loyalty programs.
TRYP by Wyndham represents over 90 hotels and approximately 13,000 rooms across Europe and the Americas.
