Leekes in Bilston supports Breast Cancer Care

Tea lovers in and around Bilston and Moxley are being urged to raise a cuppa to help beat cancer as a local home and furniture retailer hosts a ‘drink pink’ event this Friday, 29th October.
Leekes on Great Bridge Road, the former Cole’s of Bilston store, has pledged to support Breast Cancer Care and rather than urging customers to ‘Wear it Pink’ they’ll be able to ‘drink pink’ as staff serve up a host of free tipples, including refreshing raspberry and strawberry teas and pink lemonade, between 9am until 5.30pm, in return for a donation to the charity.
Tony Squires, store manager at Leekes’ Bilston store, organised the event. He said: "Unfortunately cancer is something that affects many people’s lives and it’s a sad fact that the majority of people now know someone who has been stuck by this terrible disease.
“We wanted to support Breast Cancer Care’s initiative because of the devastation cancer causes families. We’re all hoping for a really strong turnout so we can raise as much money as possible for this fantastic, worthwhile charity.”
Breast Cancer Care’s annual ‘Wear it Pink’ initiative helps raise funds for some of the world’s most innovative and promising breast cancer research projects and last year, ‘Wear it Pink’ donations topped £3m.
Bosses at Leekes have ploughed in the region of £3m into the overhaul of the former Cole’s of Bilston. The new-look store, which will feature a number of new departments including electrical, cookware, home textiles and an Interior Design Studio, is due to be opened on 20th November by the Mayor of Walsall.
