Barratt is buying in the south

Housebuilder Barratt Developments plc, which encompasses both the Barratt and David Wilson Homes brands, is back in the business of buying land in the south.

That was the message from the Southampton division to an audience of senior land Agents; RSLs and local government officers recently.

More than 60 industry professionals attended the seminar at The Rose Bowl, Southampton, entitled “What’s the lie of the land?”

Julian Jones, development director for the Barratt and David Wilson Homes brands at Southampton said: “With ‘localism’ at the forefront of the Government’s thinking: i.e. giving power back to local councils and local businesses, we are best placed to secure land owners the best possible price. Not only are we a major plc, but we have the experience and expertise to deliver the very best planning consent. Our track record is second to none.”

He said the facts spoke for themselves: “The message is clear: we are buying land! From January to June this year, the division contracted on more than 1000 units and since July we have agreed terms on five sites, generating around a further 400 units. A further four sites are in the pipeline.”

• Regeneration
• Mixed use
• Build Contract JV`s JCT`s
• Standard JV`s 50:50
• Affordable Housing
• Options

The division is on the lookout for land in its patch, which extends from Lyme Regis to Littlehampton and as far north as Alton and Andover.
