Celebrate summer with Taylor Wimpey Southern Counties

Taylor Wimpey Southern Counties is celebrating summer with a brand new campaign aimed at getting Portsmouth homeowners on the move. ‘Get a Move On’ offers a range of schemes that provide financial and practical help for buyers on every rung of the ladder.
If you’re wanting to move but struggling to sell your current home, Taylor Wimpey is offering its popular Part Exchange* scheme at a selection of developments in the area and under the scheme, Taylor Wimpey buys your current home at an agreed price, saving you the stress and expense of finding the right buyer. You’ll also be saving money on fees as there is no need to instruct estate agents, leaving you with spare cash to spend on adding the finishing touches to your new home.
First time buyers can consider their home ownership nightmares over with Easystart*, a scheme designed to give those struggling with a hefty deposit a real chance at getting on the property ladder. Under the scheme, first time buyers can purchase a new Taylor Wimpey home for as little as 85% of the price now. Simply pay a 5% deposit on exchange of contracts, and 80% of the price via your prearranged mortgage on completion. Taylor Wimpey will then loan you the remaining 15%, with no rent or interest to pay for up to 10 years.
Would be buyers interested in taking advantage of these schemes should visit Dukes Meadow in Waterlooville, Alver Village in Gosport, Austen Court in Hilsea, Scholars Walk in Portsmouth and Wildberry Way in Whiteley to find out more.
In addition to these fantastic schemes Taylor Wimpey has also come up with some top tips to ensure that the all important move goes as smoothly as possible.
Sarah Pasco, regional sales director for Taylor Wimpey Southern Counties, comments: “We aim to help buyers every step of the way and the range of schemes we have available offer financial help that can make that dream home a reality. Moving house, whether it’s for the first or fourth time, is a big event in anyone’s life and we’ve put together the following tips to make sure it’s as enjoyable as possible.”
Make a plan. Preparation is the key to success. Make a list of everything that needs to be done well in advance, for example, organising removals, informing the utilities companies that you are moving, having mail redirected and compiling a list of all the organisations that will need to know about your change of address.
Declutter your home. So many people waste their time and energy packing things that they never use. Moving house is a great time for a big spring clean so be ruthless - go through everything as you pack and if you haven’t used in it the last year then throw it out, sell it or donate it to charity.
Get rid of the kids. And pets. Just for the day of course. Keeping children and animals out from under your feet will help keep moving day as productive and stress-free as possible.
Label everything clearly. Ensure that all boxes and items of furniture are clearly labelled so that everything is put in the right room in your new house. Colour-coding is an effective and easy way of doing this. If possible, have a floor plan of your new home available to help the removals team.
Keep the linen handy. Strip the linen from the beds early in the day and keep it somewhere that’s easy to get to in preparation for your first night in the new house. It’s also a good idea to pack the kettle, tea bags, toiletries, and anything else you might need to get your hands on quickly, in a separate box.
Make it your own. If you’re moving into a second hand property, think about getting the property professionally cleaned before you move in. Also ensure that everything that was agreed within the sale has been left by the previous owners. You might also want to consider changing the locks as you never know who might have been given a key in the past.
Eat! On moving day, eat healthy food regularly. Start with breakfast and take time out for lunch. Also avoid having too much coffee. In the long run, too much caffeine may cause tension, anxiety and cloud your thinking. So drink plenty of water or fruit juice instead. Try and get plenty of sleep in the running up to the big move too.
Have some fun. Reward yourself at the end of the day by doing something you enjoy. Go out for a drink or meal, watch a DVD or have a long relaxing bath. Don’t stay up all night unpacking. Treat yourself, and start again fresh-faced the following day.
There is currently a selection of one and two bedroom apartments and two, three and four bedroom houses available across the region. For more information visit the developments or log on to: taylorwimpey.co.uk
