Barratt gives Bristol property market a boost

28th October 2010 Print

The housing market in Bristol received a timely boost today when the region’s leading housebuilder said it would be opening seven new sites in the next 12 months.

Barratt Bristol will open the seven new developments in the next year and once complete these will provide more than1,100 new homes. The developments have a total sales value of £165million and provide further evidence that the property market in the south west is likely to outperform some other parts of the country.

“There is strong demand for houses in the Bristol area and this will help sustain the local housing market whatever happens to the national economy,” said sales director Andrea Pilgrim.

“We would not be making this significant commitment to the market in this area unless we were confident about its prospects in the medium-term.

“By building these developments we will be bringing new jobs to the region. We will also be creating well-designed, competitively-priced new homes which local people need.”

The new developments include Bristol, three in Swindon, Frampton and new sites in Street and Melksham.
