If you're keen on skiing and boarding off-piste then a visit to the Ortovox stand is imperative, as they will be launching the new Ortovox 3+ transceiver, a vital piece of equipment if you or your friends are caught in an avalanche. Established in 1980 Ortovox is the leader in mountain safety and the new addition to their range means that should the unexpected happen the new 3+ transceiver with its smart antenna assists you and your companions being found more quickly, assuming of course that all members of the party are carrying a transceiver.

"If you are caught in an avalanche the chances of survival diminish rapidly after 20 minutes," explains Sam Noble, Noble Custom. "This means that you become reliant on your friends to save your life as the average time of rescue from the mountain safety team is typically much greater than this.

"Your life depends on carrying and being proficient in the use of avalanche transceivers and having snow probes and shovels."

With a range of up to 43m and a transmission capacity of 250 hours it will certainly aid search and rescue using its Fast Find function. The display guides you to concentrate on the most important things such as the distance to and the relative position of the buried victim. With Pin Point technology it shows at a glance if you are getting closer or further away from the victim and the Easy Mark function enables you to gain an overview of multiple burials. It's sleek design mimicking that of a gloved hand ensures that it can be easily operated in even the coldest climate.

Sam Noble said; "The Ortovox 3+ is a breakthrough in transceiver technology as it has a smart antennae which cuts out weak signal transmissions allowing your friends to find you quicker." The Ortovox 3+ transceiver retails at £269 in the UK. For more information visit: ortovox.com
