Millwood Designer Homes rewarded for customer care

Tonbridge-based housebuilder Millwood Designer Homes beat off tough competition at the recent West Kent Business Awards to win the Customer Care & Satisfaction award in the large companies category.

Organised by Courier Media Group, the awards recognise organisations for their hard work and business acumen, which has certainly faced some challenging times during the recent economic downturn.

David Gregory, Millwood’s Associate Director of Customer Service, attended the glittering awards ceremony at the Spa Hotel in Tunbridge Wells along with Customer Service Supervisor, Fran Hemsley. Both David and Fran were delighted to receive the award for a company that they believe always strives to provide its customers with a first-class service.

“Here at Millwood, our whole company ethos from the managing director down is about putting our homeowners first,” says David. “We have worked hard to build a reputation for producing quality homes but that would count for nothing if we did not also work hard to build a reputation for excellent customer service. We are insistent on going the extra mile for our homeowners, not just to make a sale but because we genuinely care about them and believe that a Millwood customer is a customer for life.”

And it was the company’s team approach to quality and customer service with clear policies, procedures and training for staff and contractors that impressed judge Gillian Forsyth, General Manager for Halliwell/Elizabeth Finn Homes, when she visited Millwood.

Gillian says, “Millwood demonstrated that they understood that different customers had different needs. They would identify and often anticipate their customers, with staff always having clear expectations of the quality of service they were providing, using feedback from customers and understanding the importance of external audits as well as in-house quality audits. It is the above-and-beyond touches that make people who are spending a great deal of money feel special.”

For Managing Director John Elliott, this recent award has been a welcome recognition of the hard work and dedication that everyone at Millwood works hard to achieve, saying, “Out of the five companies shortlisted, we were the only housebuilder, so we have been competing against a variety of different businesses. In today’s market there’s a lot of competition and I think Millwood’s balanced approach and commitment to every aspect of the service we supply has helped us to stand out from the crowd.”
