Post Office favourite for Foreign Exchange and Travel Insurance
The UK public has once again named the Post Office as its favourite travel insurance and foreign exchange provider at this year’s prestigious British Travel Awards.
This means the Post Office has secured the title of ‘Best Travel Insurance Provider’ for five consecutive years, and enjoys four consecutive years as ‘Best Foreign Exchange Provider’.
The Post Office scooped the award ahead of several major competitors to secure 15 per cent of votes for the travel insurance award and 27 per cent of all votes in the foreign exchange category.
Sarah Munro, Post Office Head of Travel Services, said: "We’re very excited that once again we have been be recognised by the travel industry and more importantly the UK public for the great value travel services we offer through our branch network, which serves 23 million customers a week, as well as our website and call centre. This has been another tough year for both the travel industry and holidaymakers themselves and it is encouraging that people continue to trust and value the services offered by the Post Office."
British Travel Awards’ Chief Executive Lorraine Barnes Burton said: "The British Travel Awards are widely considered to be the "Oscars" of the travel industry! It’s the largest awards programme in the UK, created to reward travel companies with the winning accolade being the benchmark for excellence when it comes to finding out who really is the best in the business of travel for the UK consumer. This year, more than any, the competition was fierce and the Post Office is to be congratulated on its achievement."
The Post Office is the UK’s largest bureau de change provider offering 0 per cent commission on over 70 different currencies through its unrivalled 12,000 strong branch network and popular website postoffice.co.uk, which offers the unique advantage having your currency delivered to your home or delivered for collection from any branch. Earlier this year, the Post Office pledged that customers will not be out of pocket if their trip is cancelled - a ‘no questions’ refund at the original price paid on currency purchased for holidays cancelled for any unpredictable ‘events’ such as a tour operator or airline collapse.
As one of the leading independent travel insurance providers in the country, the Post Office also issues almost a million travel insurance policies every year and recently launched a new ‘tiered’ policy - offering customers a choice of three levels of cover and price depending on their requirements. The Post Office also looks after customers in the event that they need to claim, by settling complete claims with five days working days. Travel insurance applications can be made at over 8,000 branches or at postoffice.co.uk.
