Naval Officer finds new home in Somerset

When Naval Officer Mark Podbury was looking for a new home in Somerset, he felt a strong “connection” with Taylor Wimpey’s Withycombe Meadow development in Highbridge.
The new houses are built on the site of the old Portishead Radio Station which Mark, Naval Warrant Officer, communicated through when he was out at sea on naval ships in the 1970s and 80s.
Mark said: “It’s quite fitting that I now live on the site of the old radio station that I used to communicate with. Whenever we were at sea and wanted to call home, we had to go through the Portishead Radio Station - so it’s lovely to have a nostalgic connection to our new home.”
Mark and his wife Kelly moved into their spacious four bedroom Sherston style property a couple of weeks ago and are now settled in and enjoying their new home.
Mark added: “I was brought up in Burnham-on-Sea and my family live close by so Withycombe Meadow is perfectly located for us to keep in contact with relatives, whilst being close to the seaside too. We’ve had a fantastic experience with Taylor Wimpey and the sales executive, Marianne, couldn’t have been more helpful.”
Withycombe Meadow is a collection of two, three and four bedroom homes and two bedroom apartments with prices starting at just £92,995. Situated in a quiet, tranquil location on the outskirts of Highbridge, the homes at the development are built around a picturesque landscaped green, and surrounded by existing woodland.
Richard Goad, regional sales and marketing director for Taylor Wimpey Bristol, said: “We’re really pleased we were able to help Mr Podbury find his new home at Withycombe Meadow. We love hearing the stories from our new purchasers and Mr Podbury’s story is particularly fascinating due to his connection with the site. We hope there’ll be many more buyers with stories as interesting as this to tell in the future.”
