Independent car comparison website launches

Today marks the official launch of a new independent car comparison website in the UK, which will aim to help users select the best car for them. Different features on the website, such as car reviews and ratings, are all compiled for the benefit of site visitors.
carbuzz.co.uk was founded by 23 year-old car-enthusiast James Hind, to help new car buyers decide on which vehicle to choose. Every new car from major manufacturers is listed on the site and there are currently around 8,000 reviews, each categorised by model and engine type.
One of the main features on the website is the ‘Car Chooser’ which allows users to input details of what they want from a car, such as the number of seats and running costs, after which they are presented with a list of the best matches to pick from.
Each car featured includes reviews from expert sources and people who already own the vehicle, as well as useful videos, images, statistics and a feature that allows users to compare the specifications of up to three cars side by side.
The cars featured on Carbuzz each have a ‘buzzScore’, which rates the car based on the nature of the reviews left by experts. The buzzScore for each car is calculated from the average of ratings given in expert reviews from a set list of trusted publications. It shows users, at a glance, an unbiased average rating for each car.
Once users to the site have found a car they like, or want to re-visit at a later date, they can add the vehicle to ‘MyGarage’ using a button on the car’s profile page. This enables them to bring all of their favourite cars together in one place, to save them searching for each one time and time again.
The site has a straight-talking and informative approach, combined with a user-centric design, which aims to make the research phase of buying a car a simpler and more enjoyable process.
James Hind, founder of Carbuzz, spoke more about the launch of his new website; “I spotted a gap in the market around a year ago for an independent website dedicated to helping consumers make informed decisions quickly on which new car to buy. It’s often difficult to know which car to choose, because it’s all too easy to believe what the manufacturer tells you about their latest model. A new car purchase is most people’s second biggest purchase in life, after a house, so it’s important that they can access a range of opinions to know which car would suit them best.”
“What people really need is a range of expert opinions alongside honest opinions of people who actually own the car, which is exactly what we aim to offer. The fact is, the majority of UK households now have one or more car, so there are always consumers looking to upgrade their model or just change their existing vehicle. We hope to be a valuable, independent source for anyone researching their next new car.”
