Taylor Wimpey buoys new homes market in Sussex

Taylor Wimpey has demonstrated its confidence in the new homes market by obtaining an agreement to develop six plots of land in Sussex for new housing.
In a firm commitment to meeting high levels of demand for high-quality properties in the area, the leading housebuilder will be constructing a total of 274 brand new homes across the sites, which are spread across both East and West Sussex.
This follows the success Taylor Wimpey South West Thames has enjoyed in the area in 2010, with homes at its five current Sussex developments proving popular with buyers seeking stylish maintenance-free properties at great-value prices and in a desirable location.
Tim Betts, Regional Sales and Marketing Director for Taylor Wimpey, says: “While estate agents may bemoan a lack of trade at present, we are experiencing the opposite – and that’s why we are demonstrating our confidence in the market with the purchase of six new development sites in East and West Sussex.
“We are finding that by pricing our homes realistically, and offering the customer a well-designed brand new home, that we are having no trouble at all in selling.
“Plus, our range of homebuying incentives are something estate agents just cannot compete with. In particular, our incentives for first-time buyers plus our part exchange and Easymover initiatives for those with a home to sell helps to keep our sales buoyant.
“Quite simply, if we were doing something wrong, we’d soon know about it, as people would stop buying our new homes. As it is, demand for our homes is so strong that we hope to be opening these developments as soon as possible.”
Taylor Wimpey’s new developments will be in Crowborough, Buxted and Stone Cross in East Sussex, and Pulborough, Horsham and Billingshurst in West Sussex.
They vary in size, with the smallest being an exclusive three-house development and the largest boasting 87 properties. A mix of homes is being provided to suit all types of buyers, from first-timers and couples through to growing families, downsizers and investors, while Taylor Wimpey is working closely with local housing associations to provide affordable homes at four of the developments.
