BAH 7A beats the DVLA drum

2nd December 2010 Print

DVLA Personalised Registrations final auction of 2010 got off to a fine start, thanks to the popular Asian name Bahia.

The auction room here at Ardencote Manor in Warwickshire fell silent when the gavel fell on the registration BAH 7A – a distinct correlation to the Bahia – with the price at £15,000, ensuring a total bill of £19,026 complete with VAT and buyers’ premium.

Another mystery bidder bought 11 FFY for £11,500 while other popular plates to fall under the hammer were the Ferrari F40-linked numbers F40 WOW and F40 XXX which sold for £2,700 and £2,000 respectively.

Jody Davies, DVLA Personalised Registrations’ Events Manager, said: “It might be freezing outside due to the near arctic weather we’re experiencing, but in our auction room things have been heated with some frenetic bidding.”

The “star” plate of the Ardencote auction will undoubtedly be 11 O which boasts a reserve of £10,000. It is the latest in the O-series steadily released by DVLA Personalised Registrations since January 2009. To date, the sale of 15 registrations from the series has amassed a staggering £1.2 million.

In total, DVLA’s forthcoming auction will comprise 1,500 registrations chosen to offer  an eclectic mix to suit all tastes, styles and pockets, including, 777 A (reserve -  £3,000), ALF 4C (£400), BAL 5A (£400), D111 ANA (£900), EL10 TTS (£900), 51 ENA (£1,900), F40 WOW (£300), F40 XXX (£900), 66 JLS (£1,900), LAY 8Y (£400), LOU 115E (£900), 11 O (£10,000), 32 OO (£3,000), 4 OOO (£4,000), OPR 4H (£450), OUR 805S (£400), P911 CUP (£900).
