Heron snaps up four fresh Volvos

Frozen foods retailer, Heron Foods, have added four new Volvo FE-300 rigid trucks with Solomon fridge bodies to the fleet that services their 160 stores in the midlands and the north of England.
These are the first Volvos in their fleet of 36 trucks and have been supplied by local dealer, Crossroads Truck and Bus of Hull. The 6x2 chassis are on a Volvo R&M contract and are being operated on a Contract Hire agreement through Volvo Financial Services.
So why the change? A spokesman for Heron Foods said, “We’ve been running one brand of trucks for some years now and we felt that it was time for a change. Volvo’s product stood out as the most obvious choice of those available and the 6x2 FE particularly suits our needs.”
He added, “The FE 6x2 rigid chassis with a Solomon fridge body is also a quality product that reflects the service we offer our customers”
The new trucks went on the road in mid-October, and they are performing well. Heron’s spokesman said, “With only a few weeks under their belts, it’s too early to be looking at fuel returns, but the initial signs are very good. It’s been a change for our drivers too, and I’m pleased to say that they have taken to these new Volvos very well indeed.”
