Christmas gifts: ‘It’s the thought that counts’ for 47% of Brits

16th December 2010 Print

Twenga, the most comprehensive shopping search engine, has asked Brits what they do with the Christmas gifts they do not like. The results show that 47% of British people keep the gifts and think it is the thought that counts.

Indeed, 70% of French people, 61% of Italians and 66% of Spanish also keep their gifts even if they don’t like them.

However, 29% of Brits donate their unwanted presents to charity. And just like 33% of Italians and 28% of Germans, 25% of Brits do not hesitate to offer them to others.

Interestingly, 25% of Germans are prepared to sell their gifts, using auction sites or small ads, compared with only 5% of Spaniards.
