On January 1st 2011, Volvo Trucks France acquired the French dealer Vexor (legal name Whel), which had been operating as an authorised Volvo dealer since 1972 and employing 110 people.

The purchase encompasses 10 dealerpoints located in the Pas-de-Calais and Nord regions at Arques (St Omer), Arras, Bailleul, Bethune, Boulogne, Calais, Lesquin (Lille), Roncq and Somain, plus Amiens (in the Somme region) as well as their truck rental operation. All the existing personnel have been retained.

The investment is in line with the Volvo Truck Corporation’s strategy to be present in major traffic centres with a high density of trucks, thus getting closer to its customers.

“With this important acquisition, we feel that we now have the necessary coverage in and around major French cities with the high potential that we wanted. It enables us to offer our customers an innovative service concept through our Volvo Truck Centers,” says Jean-Noël Thenault, Managing Director for Volvo Trucks France.

Volvo Trucks now owns 4 Volvo Truck Centers and operates through 8 independent dealers in France, operating more than 118 Volvo service points and employing over 1,000 people.
