First-ever Volvo trucks for H Freund

Runcorn-based, H. Freund have purchased their first-ever Volvo trucks, courtesy of Thomas Hardie Commercials of Middlewich.

H. Freund – who specialise in the transportation and storage of granulated and pulverised goods, and have a number of sites throughout Spain, Germany and Belgium – have purchased three new Volvo FH-540s to replace some of their older fleet.

The purchase marks the start of a new relationship for the German company, as they look to expand their operations further in the UK. Phil Moore, General Manager at H. Freund, said, “Due to the cost benefit, we have always purchased our vehicles centrally through our head office in Frechen, Germany. However, as we develop our UK customer base we wanted to begin building relationships with a local dealer in the UK.”

Phil added, “We chose Thomas Hardie Commercials and Volvo based on a number of factors: superior reliability, excellent fuel economy and outstanding driver comfort, as well as the exceptional back-up service.”

We hope to be instrumental in helping H. Fruend to operate efficiently and grow in the UK market.”

The family-run company, who believe in putting their staff first, have spared no expense in kitting out their new 6x2 FH trucks. Plated for 44 tonnes, the FH-540s are specified with 540bhp with VEB Plus, I-Shift automated transmission, lightweight Estepe axle conversion and Globetrotter XL cab complete with climate control, a fridge and Audio Advance with Bluetooth and USB capabilities.

Phil continued, “We believe our drivers should have a decent working environment. Safety and driver comfort are extremely important, which is why we haven’t held back on the specifications on our new Volvos.”

The new Volvos will now be used for transporting a range of materials throughout the UK.
