Flowers, food and fun in Capital Region USA
If you're planning a trip to the Capital Region USA, you won't want to miss the chance to take part in one of the famous Spring festivals in Washington, D.C., Virginia and Maryland.
Best for blossom-filled romance ....
Spring is perfect for a romantic break in the USA's capital as its cherry blossom time. The 3000 famous trees which have come to symbolise the natural beauty of the capital were a gift from Japan in 1912, and each April visitors flock to Washington, D.C. from around the world to see the sea of pink of white light up the city. The annual Cherry Blossom festival runs from 26 March - 10 April in 2011, culminating in the National Cherry Blossom Festival Parade on 09 April.

Best for mooching by the sea ...
Springfest comes to Ocean City, Maryland in May, and it's the perfect weekend for meandering through the unique arts and crafts stalls, wandering over to listen to the music on one of the two stages, or grazing your way through delicious Eastern Coast and ethnic delicacies at over 30 different food outlets. And best of all, with the exception of tickets for the headline acts (Richard Marx and George Jones this year), the festival is entirely free of charge. Springfest runs from 5 - 8 May 2011.
