Local knowledge the key to selling new homes in North Manchester

With more than 30 years’ experience between them of selling homes in the North Manchester area, Lin Collins and Lorraine Moores were the perfect choice to look after Redrow’s Moston venture.
Redrow is working with Manchester City Council to provide new homes in the Moston and Harpurhey areas of the city.
Lin and Lorraine are the sales consultants for the properties currently being sold at Hanson Gardens and Kenyon Gardens, from a marketing suite off Lightbowne Road.
Lin’s grandparents lived in Moston Lane, Moston, and her parents were born locally.
“I can remember what these streets used to look like. The area has changed so much, but the new homes we are building will give it a new lease of life. They fit in very well with the existing properties and reflect Moston’s proud heritage,” Lin, who now lives in Bury, commented.
“People in Moston trust local people and we have had lots of enquiries from people who have heard about the homes through word of mouth.”
So far they have sold 29 homes between the Hanson Gardens and Kenyon Gardens phases and the first customers have already moved in.
Lorraine said: “Because we have both worked in the wider Moston area and are familiar with the type of people we are selling to, we can anticipate the questions they will ask about the home buying process. Most people are first time buyers and because of our experience we are able to guide them through what’s involved.”
An equity scheme administered by the council enables purchasers to defer paying up to 25% of the purchase price for up to 10 years.
At Hanson Gardens, off Lightbowne Road, current availability includes a selection of two and three-bedroom properties priced from £104,995 or as little as £78,746 with the help of the equity loan.
Properties with three and four bedrooms are available at Kenyon Gardens, in Kenyon Lane. A four-bedroom home, on the market for £132,995, can be snapped up for an initial outlay of just £99,746.
“The four-bedroom properties at Kenyon Gardens are particularly popular with those who have larger families,” Lorraine, who lives in Marple, commented.
“As work progresses and people can see the end product, interest in the homes is growing.”
