Skiers urged to shop around for ski hire

2nd February 2011 Print

Skiers should shop around for the best ski hire deals, according to ski hirer Ski Republic (ski-republic.com), which has 34 ski hire outlets in 26 resorts in the French Alps.

In a price check of ski hire companies in the top resorts in the French Alps* Ski Republic believe they are up to 49%, 115 euros / week, cheaper than rival ski equipment hirers, comparing the cost of 7 days' performance skis, sticks and boots.

According to the survey the company was cheapest of all of the 61 ski hire outlets checked, and in Val d'Isere La Daille, where Skiset charge 235 euros for 7 days performance skis, sticks and boots, Ski Republic were 115 euros / week cheaper.

Ski Republic's Lionel Favre, CEO and founder, said;

"For too long skiers have had to put up with inferior service and equipment. Happily things have changed in recent years, but prices still vary enormously and if a skier is going to take time to shop around to get the best deal for his ski holiday, he should do the same when deciding on his ski hirer."

Ski Republic charge a flat rate of 120 euros / week for performance skis, sticks and boots, including one day's free hire (based on 20 euros / day).

Ski Republic offers standard skis, boots and sticks for just 10 euros / day, bringing the cost of a week's ski hire down to just 60 euros.

Based on a week's hire of the same grade of skis, hired in store and according to prices gathered between 19th and 24th December 2010.
