Volvo delivers more traction for Hewicks

Hewicks Haulage, which provides general traction alongside its associate managed co-products tanker fleet, Cave Liquid Haulage, has taken delivery of its first three Volvo FH13 6x2 tractor units. The new vehicles are additions to the current East Anglia-based fleet and will support the company’s expanding food and brewing sector co-products and bulk feeds business nationwide – as well as its growing port traffic.
Owner Managing Director, Chris Hewick says, “Our business spans a range of hygiene-critical and environmentally sensitive operating requirements – co-products from the food chain and brewing – and the scheduled processing and delivery of specialist and formulated feeds to farm gate bulk silos at livestock units nationwide. We have a background in-depth experience with both animals and transport – so we fully understand the importance of strictly controlled hygiene, environmental and wastes management procedures. It is important for us and our customers therefore, that we also operate with premium ‘green’ and efficient vehicles that are at the top of their game.”
The Volvo FH13 third axle tag units all feature the latest 12.8 litre, straight 6-cylinder, turbo-intercooled D13C500 high torque Euro 5 EEV engine (Enhanced Environmental friendly Vehicles). Two of the units use the Volvo’s new I-Shift automatic change gearbox – and the third vehicle is a conventional manual. All three units carry the spacious, top-specification Globetrotter XL sleeper cab. The vehicles were supplied through the Ely, Cambridgeshire depot of Volvo Truck and Bus East Anglia.
