Part exchange provides perfect family home in Elstow

In looking for the perfect family environment to raise young children, grandparents John and Sue and their daughter and son in law, Charlie and Alan have purchased a spacious five bedroom house together at Lake View by Bloor Homes.
Ideally situated in Wixams, the new village development near Elstow in Bedfordshire, the property is ideal for all the family including 16 month old granddaughter Madison and there is plenty more room for the next grandchild which is on the way. Keen to move in as quickly and as easily as possible, John & Sue part exchanged their former home, whilst their daughter sold her home and lived in rented accommodation until they could all move in together.
Drawn to buying a home together because of childcare arrangements, the family were attracted to Lake View because of the village community, the schools and the location of their new home next to the lake and opposite the play area. Sue comments: “We previously lived in the nearby village of Wotton, but it proved too far away from my daughter to organise childcare, so we decided that it made sense to buy a big family home together. We love the idea of being part of a new village community especially the new schools and chose our home because of its fabulous location opposite the lake.”
Sue continues: “By part exchanging our previous home, we were able to move in as soon as it was ready and as we were offered the full market value so we had nothing to lose. It simply meant we didn’t have to find a buyer or worry about long property chains. We moved in at the end of October and since then life has become much easier and less stressful. We agreed who had each room before moving in and apart from the occasional disagreement we are all getting on brilliantly. My husband and I are really enjoying our retirement, especially looking after our granddaughter. Her parents are much closer to their jobs and we all have lots more space to enjoy. Madison and I also love watching the swans on the lake from my bedroom window and going out to the play area which is just opposite.”
Perfect for family life, ‘The Fareham’ is a three storey town house that includes a dual aspect lounge with double doors that open onto the rear garden. There is a dining room, ideal for entertaining whilst the open plan kitchen and breakfast area is perfect for informal family meals. There is also a utility room, a study and a cloakroom on the ground floor.
On the first floor, the master bedroom suite is a generous size and features fitted wardrobes and an en-suite bathroom. On the other side of the landing there are two further bedrooms and a separate family bathroom. Upstairs to the second floor, the second double bedroom is similar to the master suite, offering fitted wardrobes and an en-suite shower room. Across the hall, there is a fifth bedroom which could be used as a playroom or nursery.
Lake View is set within the cutting-edge new Wixams community and is the first of four new villages proposed for the area. Wixams is a unique and sustainable new township which will have its own employment area, schools, health services, leisure and recreation areas, transport links and community centre. Spanning the north east perimeter of the development is the picturesque Elstow village lake, which many houses have a view of.
Ideal for families and commuters alike, Wixams is perfect for modern living. The village is surrounded by countryside and is just over 10 miles from both the M1 and A1. Additionally nearby Bedford station provides a direct service to London St Pancras in 40 minutes.
Prices at Lake View start from £219,950. For further information, visit: bloorhomes.com. The site’s sales centre is open from 10am – 5pm seven days a week.
