The Merchant Quay launch drew in the crowds

A pirate-themed event drew in crowds of visitors to the launch of a new development and showhome in Portishead.

Paying homage to the waterside location, Persimmon Homes pulled out all the stops at its new Merchant Quay development in the popular Portmarine in Portishead where a Captain Jack Sparrow lookalike from Pirates of the Caribbean entertained visitors and children were given themed goody-bags to mark their visit.

Nicola Reed, sales director for Persimmon Homes Severn Valley, said: “There’s a real sense of community at Portmarine and we wanted to mark the official launch of the development and three bedroom professionally designed showhome with an event that everyone – from first time buyers through to growing families - could enjoy.

“The themed-event really did pull in the crowds and we were thrilled to see hundreds of people pass through the doors last weekend. We have carved out a solid reputation in the area, having built here for many years, and Merchant Quay is a welcome addition to our existing Portmarine-based developments, as I’m sure house hunters will agree.”

Merchant Quay has been designed to suit a whole host of buyers’ requirements and budgets and features a range of homes including two bedroom apartments and coach-houses and three and four bedroom properties. All homes benefit from a single car port or garage and all apartments have a parking space. Homes at Merchant Quay are currently priced from £174,995.

Mentioned in the Domesday book, Portishead flourished in the 19th century when the Victorians introduced a deep-water dock for trading iron, steel and coal. Today it’s the site of a vibrant marina and home to leisure craft, shops and restaurants.

Portishead retains local market shopping with fresh produce at many outlets, yet also offers many large retail chains including a flagship Waitrose store, whilst Bristol is little more than ten miles away.

Benefiting from the best of both worlds, nature lovers can enjoy the many nature reserves and wildlife walks whilst commuters will appreciate the excellent transport links being just three miles from junction 19 of the M5. Regular bus and rail services link to Bristol and London, whilst Bristol International airport is less than 11 miles from the development, providing domestic and international flights.
