‘Copy Kate’ wedding catering the order of the day

17th March 2011 Print

As Royal Wedding fever grips the nation, one unusual phenomenon taking place in the event world is that brides-to-be are so desperate to emulate every element of William and Kate’s nuptials that a new phrase has been coined to describe it.

The London Kitchen, one of Britain’s top catering companies is currently inundated with demands for a ‘Copy Kate’ wedding.

Damian Clarkson, founder of the London Kitchen, has had various requests ranging from copying the buffet menu that will be served at The Royal Wedding Breakfast down to the last detail, serving the same brand of champagne that will be sipped by William and his bride and even dressing the waiters in the same livery.

He remarks, “We try to be as accommodating as possible, in the end it’s someone’s special day and if people want it to be a true fairytale I suppose William and Kate are the most perfect example of it, although some of the requests can be a little over the top!”

During his time at the top of the catering world, Damian has planned and orchestrated countless Royal events including Prince Philip’s 80th, and Prince Charles’ 50th at Windsor Castle as well as many other official events at St James Palace and Kensington Palace.  He is full of amusing and interesting anecdotes about the Royals including the fact that the Queen has never had hot toast in her palaces as the kitchens are so far away from her rooms and that Prince Charles has created his own spice mix which he puts on food to makes everything taste the same and many more.

Damian predicts that the Royal mania will last well beyond the 29th April, with many of his customers planning their weddings for next year and using Kate as the template.  “If everyone wants to be Kate that’s what we’ll do for them on the day” he sums up, “The only thing we can’t guarantee is that there will be a genuine Prince waiting for them at the altar.”

The London Kitchen is one of London’s most successful catering companies, creating truly sensational food for all events, both private and corporate.  Damian Clarkson has worked for some of the most exclusive event companies including, Mosimann’s, The Admirable Crichton and Rhubarb before setting up The London Kitchen in 2009.  Their clients include: the Duchy of Cornwall, Tom Ford, Ozwald Boateng, Mercedes Benz, Aston Martin, Wella and Monsoon.

The London Kitchen is at 179 Hercules Road, London, SE1 7LD
