Best ever MSA Euroclassic route revealed
Already established as the ‘blue riband’ touring event of its kind, the 2011 MSA Euroclassic (4-11 September) promises to be the best yet. Living up to – and even exceeding – its enviable reputation, this summer’s 19th MSA Euroclassic has all the hallmarks of a truly exceptional road trip featuring visits to wonderful museums, thrilling race circuits plus a host of other highly-prized motoring and tourist-related locations.
The provisional route announced today (Wednesday 24 March) takes participants on a spectacular non-competitive eight-day journey through previously unchartered territory in central Italy with visits to some of Europe’s most historic towns and cities, two of the continent’s premier motor museums plus exclusive track time at no fewer than five different race circuits. What’s more, with further details of the schedule only being confirmed now, the special price early booking offer has been extended from 31 March to 28 April 2011.
As previously confirmed, this year’s MSA Euroclassic – as organised by International Motor Sports Limited (IMS) a wholly owned subsidiary of the Royal Automobile Club Motor Sports Association Ltd (MSA), the governing body of motor sport in the UK – starts from the historic town of Troyes to the south east of Paris and finishes in the Italian city of Parma, famous for its cheese, ham and countless other gastronomical delights.
The cleverly conceived 1480-mile route between Troyes and Parma announced today is bursting with sight-seeing stop-offs in many of Europe’s most celebrated towns and cities including St Moritz in the Swiss Alps and Italian icons Verona, Venice, San Marino, Rome, Siena and Pisa. Whetting the automotive appetites, the journey also visits Mille Miglia and Maranello Ferrari Museums as well as providing drivers with exhilarating opportunities to put their classic cars through their paces at the Anneau du Rhin, Autodromo d’Franciacorta, Adria, Autodromo Dell’Umbria Magione and Varano circuits.
As tradition dictates, entry into the MSA Euroclassic is primarily restricted to cars with a minimum age of 20 years. However, by popular demand, IMS is accepting a small number of contemporary classics into this year’s event – not least as the itinerary passes through the modern supercar heartlands in Northern Italy, home to Ferrari, Lamborghini and Maserati.
“We’ve organised some pretty special events in the past, but with so much to see and do en route this must be the best MSA Euroclassic yet,” enthused Andrew Coe, Chief Executive of organiser International Motor Sports Limited. “This year’s itinerary takes in so many famous places and landmarks from the canals of Venice to the Leaning Tower of Pisa… and yet still includes track time for the driving enthusiasts on most days.
“It’s going to be a truly memorable trip for lovers of classic cars, fine cuisine, legendary culture, automotive heritage, timeless cities and so much more. Entries are limited and, with the inclusion of some contemporary modern supercars plus huge demand expected from our traditional classic car owners, it’s no surprise that we are advising those hoping to participate not to delay their application. It promises to be an exceptional experience and thus we are expecting massive interest.”
Entry costs £2,250 per car plus two-person crew (£2,100 if booked before the revised 28 April 2011 deadline) and includes detailed route maps, exclusive driving opportunities at the five selected race tracks, on-event medical and mechanical assistance, lunches on most days, a special Celebration Dinner on the final evening plus a host of other benefits and attractions.
