Forge Motorsport Ford Focus Mk2 intercooler kit

Forge Focus Mk2 Intercooler

The latest intercooler upgrade kit from respected engineers Forge Motorsport should get all Mk2 RS Focus owners very excited.

In addition to its vastly increased size and efficiency over the OEM item, the new Forge part also adds a considerable aesthetic improvement to the Blue Oval’s latest hi-po offering. But of course, beauty is far more than skin deep with this product.

Each unit is hand-fabricated in Forge’s Gloucestershire factory, before being subject to a rigourous testing and quality control procedure. During independent dyno testing, the greater volumetric efficiency of the new unit saw the recipient vehicle gain up to 15bhp and 20ft/lbs of torque in the midrange, as well as 8bhp and 10 ft/lbs towards the redline.

Thanks to care taken during the design process, the Forge Intercooler doesn’t mask the coolant radiator, meaning that even in the heat of the dyno cell no discernable rise in coolant temperatures were noted - essential for cars that are driven hard on road or track. This level of forethought is also clearly evident when coming to fit the part to the car. Forge’s engineers were keen to design so that it could be fitted easily, without having to remove the front panel, making it a genuine ‘bolt out, bolt in’ conversion.

Reducing charge temperatures to create power gains is by far the most mechanically sympathetic method of tuning, and the fitment of the Forge ‘cooler also provides the perfect basis for turning up the taps in other areas. Heat is often the killer of many tuned engines, so start the job properly and get yours under control before you start.

Priced at £499.00 + VAT, the Forge RS Mk2 Intercooler promises form and function in one perfectly formed package.
