Vanessa Arbuthnot launches range of upholstered furniture

Vanessa Arbuthnott has introduced a small, but judiciously selected, range of high quality sofas and chairs, which can be covered in any design from her extensive fabric collection.

The sofas come in two designs, 'modern' and 'classical'. The modern sofa is very much a shape for the 21st Century: contemporary, angular and capacious, whilst the classical model is beautifully generous, with elegant arms and a gently rounded back. In fact, the largest model is roomy enough to double up as a spare bed! There is also a matching 'modern' armchair, a traditional armchair - comfy, squashy and inviting - and a tub chair, which, despite its buttoned back, will still give your room a fashionable edge.

The sofa and chair frames are traditionally handcrafted in Sussex, using solid beech from managed forest, and jointed with dowels and screws. They are then exquisitely upholstered, using hand-sprung seats, in a small workshop in the Cotswolds, only two miles away from Vanessa's offices and warehouse.

Vanessa designed the collection in response to the many requests from her customers: "I have taken great care to choose designs that are both comfortable and sufficiently timeless to last for many years to come."

Customers are encouraged to visit Vanessa's showroom near Cirencester to try out the furniture for themselves: "The models are very different from one another in appearance, but they are all equally comfortable. We recognise how important it is for potential purchasers to sit on them, hunker down in them and generally let themselves be beguiled by them, so we are more than happy for them to visit us here at Calmsden."
