As speculation grows about where Wills and Kate will head for their pre-wedding parties, where are Joe and Jolene public heading for theirs?

It’s just one month to the day until the wedding of the century but while Kate and William’s nuptials are sure to be out of this world it appears their upcoming hens and stags dos will be quite similar to the average British couple.

Speculation is growing that he’ll be taking his mates out on the water on the South Coast and she’ll be having fun in Scotland which mirrors the places that have been revealed as the UK’s most popular hen and stag do weekend destinations.

According to official sales figures from the world’s biggest Stag and Hen party company Redseven, Brighton and Edinburgh along with London and Newcastle are the most visited destinations in the UK, while Barcelona, Riga and Prague are the most popular overseas pre-wedding hot spots.

Manchester, Liverpool, Birmingham, Cardiff, Bristol and Glasgow are also becoming increasingly popular as are Barcelona, Tallinn and Berlin.

Guys’ most popular stag activities are shooting and driving while women prefer dancing lessons, cocktail making and pampering, which could be just what Kate will be doing on her hen’s weekend if the rumours are to be believed.

The average size party for both sexes is around 13 people, while the average duration is 2-3 nights for stags and 1-2 nights for hens. Guys tend to want to spend more time away; whereas women tend to have group members who only attend part of the event. On average hens spend £127, and stags £180 each.

There are 200,000 weddings a year; 170,000 of those are "first marriages" - typically brides are 28, grooms are 31 where neither or one has not been married before. That is potentially 340,000 hen and stag parties a year, with 4.3m people attending a hen or stag party each year meaning the market is worth a lucrative £668million a year.

Watch our video with Ian Lucas from Redseven discussing the trends and revealing his predictions for what Kate and Wills might be getting up to on their hen and stag dos.
