See Grand Prix cars in action for just a tenner!

The GPlive event is a unique celebration of the pinnacle of motor racing action, bringing iconic Grand Prix racing cars of all eras to Donington Park racing circuit, Derby, on the weekend of 18-20 May 2007. More than that, the event is specifically designed to allow race fans unprecedented access to the fastest cars and the greatest stars.
“Accessibility has been our key from the word go” said event originator Richard Morgan. “GPlive is designed to create opportunities for everyone to get close to the cars and the drivers at the heart of this great sport. More than anything, that’s what GPlive is all about,
“It’s much more than just a motor race meeting” Morgan promises. “On each of the three days, your ticket gives you access to a huge variety of motorsport and lifestyle activities. Donington is a vibrant venue with masses of history and we’ll combine that with a high octane celebration, featuring what will probably be the largest gathering of former Grand Prix cars and drivers in the world.”
Over its three days, the GPlive event will combine races and on track demonstrations from iconic cars and drivers who remain motor sport legends. Iconic cars of the 1970s and 1980s, such as JPS Lotus, Willams and Tyrrrell, will compete in two rounds of the FIA Thoroughbred Grand Prix World Championship, the premier racing series for historic cars of the era, while bringing things right up to date will be races for two-seat Minardi F1X2 cars - racing complete with passengers!
“We’re delighted to be supporting an event like this, which brings the glamour and passion of the sport to the people. It’s long overdue” says European Minardi F1 team boss Paul Stoddart. “GPlive is all about fun and spectacle and we aim to play our part with our F1x2, two-seat cars and some of the European Minardi Formula One race cars too.”
In addition to the packed programme of on-track action and demonstrations, a ticket to GPlive will give access to activities and displays across the Donington venue.
These include: Polesitters – a static display of cherished grand prix cars; Silver Screen Racers, an (outdoor) “Autotorium” showing the very best in grand prix footage; Marque Paddocks devoted to Car Club displays; Wind & Wheels – an exhibition charting the progress of aerodynamics in grand prix design; Artemotive – an exhibition of the finest grand prix and motoring imagery, a Motorsport Mall; Grand Prix Panellists where a selection of drivers each day will be invited to answer questions from the public; the Drivers Sign On area - an area dedicated to autograph and book signing sessions; and the GIG zone – where you can test your skill as a grand prix driver, at a Grand Prix Interactive Gaming zone.
Motor racing icon Sir Stirling Moss says this will be an event he doesn’t want to miss: “It will be a motorsport experience like no other – celebrating the pinnacle of racing achievement and showcasing some wonderful old relics – including me! I’m sure that the combination of historic, classic, and contemporary Grand Prix machinery will be irresistible to enthusiasts from around the world.”
