Pilgrimage tour to Burma will pay tribute

A special 10 day pilgrimage tour to Burma is being organised by Poppy Travel, the official travel arm of the Royal British Legion, to pay tribute to those who paid the ultimate sacrifice in what is often referred to as the ‘Forgotten War’.

Accompanied by a battlefield tour leader and guide you will visit the Thanbyuzayat War Cemetery which will always be associated with the ‘Death Railway’ and has no fewer than 3,617 beautifully maintained graves.

There will also be acts of remembrance at Htaukkyan and Rangoon War cemeteries and the opportunity to attend Evensong at Rangoon’s Holy Trinity Cathedral where a chapel is dedicated to those who fought in Burma.

The Burma Armistice – a Pilgrimage Tour, which is run in association with Battlefield Tours by Leger Holidays, departs from London Heathrow on 10 November and the cost is £1799 per person sharing, £129 single room supplement.

This includes return scheduled flights to Rangoon, coach travel in Burma, seven nights’ accommodation on a bed & breakfast basis plus three lunches and three dinners and services of a battlefield tour leader and guide.

Also in attendance will be the Royal British Legion Support Group. This consists of a senior member of the Legion, a Standard Bearer and medic.
