Downsizing couple choose Redrow in Bracknell

Choosing a new home with character, style and space was high on the agenda for downsizers Jennifer and Leslie White and Redrow’s New Heritage Collection fits their bill perfectly.

It was the traditional style of Redrow’s homes at Windsor Park, in Bracknell, that made moving from a five-bedroom home in Yately - and becoming the first to reserve at the new development - an easy choice for the couple.

Strongly influenced by the character features of the Arts and Crafts era, with an interior specification above and beyond most new builds, the homes at Windsor Park really stand out from the crowd.

After their older children flew the nest Jennifer, 61, and her accountant husband Leslie, 58, decided they wanted a more manageable home that was easy to run and required little ongoing maintenance.

“With just myself and my husband living in our old house, and Leslie working away a lot, I found I was rattling round in a large space and we felt the time was right for a change,” Jennifer explains.

“We sold our house over a year ago but couldn’t find the right property immediately so we opted to rent while we continued the search for our perfect home. I heard that Redrow had a new release of traditional looking homes in Bracknell and, after viewing the plans and seeing photographs of the house types, we opted for a four-bedroom ‘Pembroke’ house and purchased ‘off plan’.

“It was very important we still had plenty of space downstairs as we didn’t want to move to a much smaller home, and the spacious layout of the Pembroke is what really sold it to us.”

The Pembroke has a large lounge downstairs, which runs the length of the house with patio doors out on to the rear garden. There’s also a generous open-plan kitchen and dining room and a convenient downstairs cloakroom and laundry room. Upstairs are four spacious bedrooms, the master with en-suite, and a good-sized family bathroom, all located off a central landing.

Jennifer added: “I’ve bought new homes before and was confident purchasing ‘off-plan’, as I trusted everything would be exactly in line with the plans we had seen and, of course, it was. We’re very happy with the house and the internal specification is terrific. We’re hoping it will lead to lower fuel bills too as it’s built to be energy efficient and we won’t be heating rooms we’re not using anymore.”

There’s a real community feel to Windsor Park, which is part of the wider Jennett’s Park development. A pub is already open on site and plans for the wider site include a country park of 91 acres, a new primary school opening in September, and 10 play areas. Approximately half of the venture is set aside for open space, retained woodland and recreational areas.

Just five minutes from Bracknell and 20 minutes from Reading, the location near to the A329 Berkshire Way also provides easy access to the M3 and M4 – perfect for commuters. Direct trains from Bracknell to London Waterloo take around an hour.
A show village of four professionally decorated and furnished show homes is open at Windsor Park, where current availability includes, three and four-bedroom homes, priced from £249,950.

Rerdrow has also launched a new phase at Jennett’s Park, Balmoral Gardens, which has three and four-bedroom homes available, priced from £299,950.
