Energy provider, npower, will be demonstrating to homeowners the latest technological developments to help them cut energy bills and carbon emissions at Grand Designs this month. Electric vehicle charging stations, solar panels and the world’s fastest electric vehicle, a Tesla, will all feature. Plus, npower will be making an exciting electric vehicle-related announcement at the show.

On its state-of-the-art stand, npower will be exhibiting home charging points for electric cars alongside the Tesla to demonstrate how home technology is quickly moving towards a more efficient, sustainable, solar economy. The npower stand will also feature a dedicated ‘environment’ section where visitors will be able to see a video demonstration of npower’s solar capabilities and find out how to make their homes more energy efficient for the future.

Nicola Hadcroft, creative services manager at npower, comments: “Many homeowners are naturally unaware of the technological advancements that are available to improve their green credentials and cut their energy bills, so Grand Designs is the ideal platform for npower to display these. What’s more, the technology we will have on show – electric vehicle charging points and the Tesla in particular – is all very much a reality, they’re no longer objects of the distant future.

“The home charging station is one of many new products being introduced to the market that is soon to become a standard fixture in our homes and is designed to make our lives easier and more energy efficient. And we’re thrilled to be able to have the Tesla here to showcase how the home charging point will work.

“Alongside our residential solar offering and National Trust Green Energy Tariff, it will help demonstrate to visitors how energy is becoming more sustainable and can help residents become more independent and tread more lightly on the planet. We’re particularly excited for Grand Designs as there will be an important unveiling from npower – I can’t say anymore than that for now!”

npower’s home charging points are just one of the initiatives being pioneered by the company to offer consumers alternative ways to reduce their carbon footprint. Other schemes such as npower’s Green Energy tariff ‘npower juice’ and Feed-in-Tariffs for solar photovoltaic panels further incentivise consumers to consider alternative ways of cutting their energy bills and going green. Visitors will also be able to find out more about npower’s National Trust Green Energy tariff, which helps support low-carbon initiatives at National Trust sites.

Grand Designs is running from 30 April to 8 May at ExCeL, London.
