African island hopping adventures

Free spirits in search of a truly offbeat Indian Ocean island hopping adventure should set sail for the unspoilt Quirimbas Archipelago in northern Mozambique, on the Zambezi Safari and Travel Company's newest mobile safari.

Revered by those in the know as the African Caribbean and touted as the new Mauritius, the Quirimbas Archipelago is one of Africa's last untouched wilderness havens.  At the heart of these unspoilt islands lies Ibo Island, once Mozambique’s mighty trading centre, all but forgotten to the outside world for almost a century.  With verdant native bush spilling over onto coral reefs, mangrove forests and hidden coves, Ibo Island is a beach seeker's paradise with prolific marine life and a rich cultural legacy.
The new island-hopping safari adventures include:

8 Day Dhow Safari
8 Day Kayak Adventure

8 Day Dhow Safari – Embark on five days of island hopping by traditional sailing dhow, kayaking, snorkelling and sleeping on the beach in mobile camps.  The itinerary takes in Mogundula, Ulumbwa and Matemo Islands, culminating with three nights of barefoot luxury at secluded and romantic Ibo Island Lodge.

The trip costs from £1,350 per person (based on four people travelling) and includes:

Light aircraft transfer to Ibo Island from Pemba Airport
3 nights full board at Ibo Island Lodge excluding all drinks
2 x guided tour of Ibo Island with local guide
4 nights / 5 days island camping with professional guide
Island hopping Dhow safari equipment (sleeping bag and sleeping mat not included)
Simple but delicious meals
Vehicle transfer to Pemba Airport

8 Day Kayak Adventure - Kayak into the clearest of blue water with pristine corals below, paddle up tranquil estuaries and visit unexplored fishing villages.  As with the dhow safari, accommodation is provided in lightweight mobile camps on the islands' beaches, followed by three nights at Ibo Island Lodge.

Island hopping Kayak safari equipment (sleeping bag and sleeping mat not included)
