Double success for Citroen at Top Gear Car of the Year Awards

12th December 2006 Print
Citroen has struck gold twice at the prestigious BBC Top Gear Awards 2006 winning both the sought-after Family Car of the Year award, for the brand new C4 Picasso MPV as well as the Executive Car of the Year award, for the stylish C6. Citroen was the only manufacturer to receive more than one of the sought after gongs.

The Family Car of the Year Award is an outstanding start to life for the seven-seat C4 Picasso, which goes on sale on 15th January. With its remarkable combination of handsome good looks, a light, spacious and versatile interior, and the wide application of innovative and useful technology, the arrival of the new C4 Picasso raises the benchmark in the UK’s fiercely fought Compact MPV sector.

On the C4 Picasso, the judges commented: “This is a very cleverly designed family car, one that will cast a spell on you the moment you make contact with it. This clever machine probably meets people’s needs – families’ needs, to be more specific – better than any other car yet created. Hats off to Citroen Management for giving the design team full freedom to express themselves, because the result will make families all over Europe very happy indeed.”

The C6, the flagship of the Citroen range, brings new dimensions of automotive style, limousine ride comfort, advanced technology and unparalleled safety credentials to the executive saloon car sector. Big and bold, yet graceful, the C6 has unmistakeable Citroen styling, drawing inspiration from the French Company’s long and illustrious history of building large, luxurious cars.

Top Gear judges commented: “The C6 doesn’t play by the rules and that’s a breath of fresh air. It’s an event to look at and manages to imbue the driver with a frisson of rebellion. What other modern executive car can impart this much emotion on its driver? I’ll tell you; none.”
