Kaua‘i Lagoons Golf Club will unveil its new Kiele Moana (Ocean) Nine on May 23, providing golfers the chance to experience the longest stretch of continuous ocean holes in Hawaii.

The Kiele course added three new holes to its back nine – including an ocean hole – and renovated six others. All renovated holes feature TifEagle putting surfaces, new bunker sand and design changes. The reopening will mark the first time in several years the Kiele Course – regularly ranked as a Top-100 course in the country by leading national golf publications – will be fully intact and ready for play.

“We’re excited to bring the Kiele golf experience back to Kaua‘i Lagoons,” said Scott Ashworth, Kaua‘i Lagoons’ Director of Golf, PGA. “The half-mile stretch of holes sitting on the Pacific Ocean is something we hope our guests will rank at the very top of their golf experiences.”

The project was overseen by original designer Jack Nicklaus, who made a site visit this past summer.

“The new holes are going to fit in nicely with what golfers have come to expect from the Kiele Golf Course – great golf holes with beautiful ocean panoramic views,” Nicklaus said.

Kaua‘i Lagoons Golf Club is located adjacent to Kaua‘i Marriott Resort and Beach Club on Kalapaki Beach, which completed a $50-million renovation in last year. To commemorate the opening of the Kiele Moana Nine the resort is offering an “Escape to a Great Golf Getaway” stay-and-play package.

Starting at $377 per room per night, golfers will receive accommodations for two in the newly transformed guestrooms and two rounds of golf at Kaua‘i Lagoons.

The “Escape to a Great Golf Getaway” package is valid through Oct. 6, 2011. A minimum two-night stay is required. Not applicable to groups of 10 or more rooms. Blackout dates and other restrictions may apply.
