Peugeot has further cause to celebrate after scooping a brace of accolades in the coveted Diesel Car Magazine, ‘Car of the Year Awards 2011’.

Peugeot’s ground-breaking 3008 HYbrid4 has won its first award – five months before it goes on sale in the UK. Awarded Diesel Car Magazine’s ‘Best Eco Car of 2011’, the new model, which will use Peugeot’s advanced diesel electric hybrid technology, will set a new benchmark for low CO2 emissions when launched in the autumn.

Ian Robertson, Editor, Diesel Car Magazine, said: “The 3008 is one of the very best crossovers, and as a diesel-electric hybrid it’s an ace combination. The 3008 HYbrid4 is a green-friendly model for the real world that can be refuelled within minutes, not hours.”

For the second year in succession, the magazine also crowned Peugeot’s exciting RCZ – powered by its class leading 2.0l HDi 163bhp engine as its ‘Sports Car of the Year’.

Ian says; “It is svelte and sexy, the RCZ has the look of a supercar but without the ridiculous price tag.  We love it for its styling pizzazz, for its torquey turbodiesel verve, and for the smile it plasters across your face when you drive it.”

These latest accolades round off an incredible 18 months for Peugeot UK which has won over a dozen major awards from the industry’s media including the What Car? ‘Car of the Year’ 2010, Top Gear’s ‘Coupé of the Year’ and Fleet News ‘Green Fleet Manufacturer of the Year 2011’.

Andrew Didlick, Director of Communications for Peugeot commented: “Peugeot has long paved the way in diesel technology and HYbrid4 is at the fore of automotive technology.

“Having the 3008 and RCZ being recognised in this manner by Diesel Car Magazine is an honour and one we are all extremely proud of.”
