Looking great for 08 – Citroen’s small car range

Looking great for 08 – Citroen’s small car range With the introduction of the 08 registration plate just around the corner, French car manufacturer Citroen expects the trend of increased small car sales to continue.

With its smaller range of cars, such as the C1, C2 and C3, making up almost 40% of Citroen vehicle sales in 2007, the Company is forecasting a continuation of the trend as drivers look for more compact and environmentally conscious vehicles with greater fuel economy and lower CO2 emissions.

Citroen currently offers 23 models in the congestion charge free Tax Band B for cars emitting less than 120g/km – including the family sized hatchback C4 1.6HDi 16v 92hp and 1.6HDi 16v 110hp with DPFS and EGS. Yet, going smaller and greener doesn’t necessarily mean scrimping on style.

With the introduction of the new special edition Code series, Citroen’s C1, C2 and C3 Pluriel have received a luxury makeover with up-market styling, including leather and chrome trim, as well as a whole host of new equipment.

And Citroen also believes it’s not just economic concerns that are driving small car sales. Significant advances in technology means that smaller sized cars are a lot safer and more reassuring on the road, with most featuring the option of ESP and ABS, coupled with Electronic Brakeforce Distribution and Emergency Braking assistance. These safety items were previously expected only on larger sized vehicles.
