Loeb and Elena complete hat-trick of victories Citroen’s quadruple FIA World Rally Champions Sébastien Loeb and co-driver, Daniel Elena, scored their third consecutive victory at Rally Mexico, to move within one point of the lead of the FIA World Rally Championship driver standings.

Frenchman Loeb piloted his Citroen C4 WRC to eight stage wins on his way to his 38th WRC triumph with Elena. The pair are now just a single point behind Mikko Hirvonen after three rounds.

Citroen Total, meanwhile, has also recovered some ground to Ford in the manufacturer’s championship.

Loeb and Elena are the most successful pairing to compete at Rally Mexico, having won the event three times since it became a round of the WRC in 2004.

“I’m delighted to have won here,” beamed Sébastien. “Following our blank scorecard in Sweden, it was important to try to bounce back straight away. It wasn’t easy and, as often seems the case in Mexico, we had a troubled start, but the rest of the event went very well for us.”

The next round of the WRC is in Argentina on March 28-30.
