What Car? launches warranty cover

17th November 2006 Print

Motorists emerging from the comfort zone of the manufacturer’s traditional three-year warranty on their car can now opt for extended protection with a What Car? Warranty.

In a recent survey of more than 1,250 car owners, 86 percent acknowledged that the peace of mind from a warranty is worthwhile, and with nearly half of them (44 percent) having made a claim, it’s no wonder.

Unlike many in the market, the new What Car? Warranty includes cover for wear & tear and consequential loss – the kind of protection so often omitted in the small print. Consumers can also choose where to get their vehicles repaired in the event of a failure.

Under the policy, an additional one year’s cover for a Ford Focus 1.6 Zetec just leaving its manufacturer warranty would be £254.23 for twelve months and a BMW 3-series would be £298.24.

The average warranty claim is £387.00 and can easily run into the thousands.
