Petplan, the UK’s favourite pet insurance provider, is heading to this year’s Bath Canine General Championship Show, which runs from 27 May – 30 May 2011, to launch this year’s Petplan Junior Stakes qualifying round.

Now in its 17th year, the Petplan Junior Stakes has established itself as a popular UK dog showing competition for dogs and bitches, across the country, aged between 6 and 18 months old, and the four qualifying shows culminate in a final show that will see a total of 28 dogs vying for the title.

After being selected to host a Petplan Junior Stakes qualifier, the Bath Canine Society received a £5,000 investment from Petplan to help with running costs, marketing and advertising, and the dog show is also being heavily promoted to Petplan’s customer. The additional exposure aims to help increase public awareness and create excitement within the breeder and dog showing community.

The Bath Canine Society site, at Three Shires Field in Bannerdown, is situated on over 50 acres of land and surrounded by the stunning hills of Bath. In its 133rd year, the show will be offering free entry to visitors and will be providing seminars and demonstrations to help educate visitors about dog shows and to promote the importance of canine health and welfare. There will also be a crèche to enable pet owners to leave their dogs whilst they enjoy the show.

Bath Secretary, Ben Ford said he was thrilled and excited about the prospect of hosting a Petplan Junior Stakes qualifier at the 2011 Bath Show.

Petplan’s Communications Manager Carl Stephens commented, “We are delighted to be working with the Bath Canine Society this year. I have no doubt this year’s Petplan Junior Stakes will be bigger and better than ever.”

As part of the Petplan Junior Stakes qualifying series Petplan is giving Petplan breeders and exhibitors the chance to win a VIP weekend for two, to the Amsterdam Winner Show in November 2011, which includes, return flights and airport transfers to the hotel, three nights accommodation, admission to the show, and free meals, including lunches at the show, dinner and drinks..
