Port Marine recognised at construction industry awards

Following its launch in October 2010, The Moorings, Crest Nicholson’s latest waterside addition at the desirable Port Marine development in Portishead, has been recognised by industry professionals at the Considerate Constructors Scheme's 2011 National Site Awards.
The development was one of 21 sites to pick up the Gold award for ‘Most Considerate Site’ and then named as Runner Up for the overall award at a prestigious ceremony in London, after being selected from some 8,500 eligible sites.
The awards celebrate the efforts made by the sites, staff and companies across the UK to improve the image of the construction industry and are given to those developments which demonstrate excellent standards of consideration towards their workforce, neighbours and the environment.
The Considerate Constructors Scheme Awards Panel said: “The Moorings was clearly dedicated to being the best possible neighbour and a true supporter of the local community. Regular communications were maintained with those most likely to be affected and work patterns were frequently adjusted to minimise disturbance.
“Everything in the site compound was constructed from recycled material and rainwater was collected centrally for distribution throughout the site. The site operated its own waste-to-energy scheme and sent five per cent of waste materials to landfill. With superb presentation throughout and facilities described by the Scheme Monitor as ‘the cleanest I have seen in all my time with the Scheme’, this site was an excellent ambassador for all that’s best in British construction.”
Laura Osborne, Sales Manager for Crest Nicholson, said: “We’re delighted that The Moorings has been recognised by the industry for its commitment to good community relations, the environment and cleanliness. The development has proven to be particularly popular with buyers looking for stylish waterside properties, which is testament to the hard work put in by all involved to help the company produce the high quality homes for which Crest Nicholson is renowned. I’d like to thank the team for their continued dedication and support, which is invaluable to making the development such a success.”
Shaune Hicks, Senior Site Manager at The Moorings, said: “It is fantastic to not only win a Gold award, but also to be named as the overall Runner Up, which has completely exceeded our expectations. To be placed in the top two per cent of site management in the country is a great achievement and reiterates the amount of care and consideration we put particular emphasis towards in the local community and environment, so we’re delighted with this recognition.”
The Moorings comprises nine luxury four bedroom villas, each of which comes with their own 35 foot mooring at the beautiful Marina. Five of these stylish waterside properties, which are ideal for families and buyers who like to entertain, have already been snapped up.
The development also consists of an eclectic seven storey building, which includes 31 contemporary two bedroom apartments, many of which have spectacular waterside views. The apartments offer homebuyers open plan living areas with the added luxury of a private balcony or terrace to enjoy relaxing by the water and taking in the stunning views.
