Citroen and Loeb on top after 1-2 in Germany Sébastien Loeb scored his seventh consecutive victory on Rallye Deutschland this weekend to claim the lead in the FIA World Rally Championship, while team-mate Dani Sordo came home second in the sister Citroen C4 WRC.

The first 1-2 finish of the year for Citroen propelled it to the top of the Manufacturer’s standings, and made it the third most successful car maker in the history of the WRC.

Loeb and his co-driver, Daniel Elena, dominated the event from the beginning, winning 14 of 19 stages. He is now leading the Driver’s standings by four points from Mikko Hirvonen, with five rounds left. Citroen has now won in Germany eight times in a row and is eight points clear in the Manufacturer’s standings after the weekend’s resounding double win.

“After beating our main rival on his home event in Finland, we had no intention of letting anybody else take victory in Germany,” smiled Sébastien.
