Home improvements - ensure your family's safety

With summer approaching and another bank holiday on the way, many of us will be taking the opportunity to start tackling home improvement jobs or long-needed repairs around the house.
If you are hiring tradesmen, make sure you check their credentials to ensure they are working safely in your home. New research from Gas Safe Register has found that homeowners are putting their families’ lives at risk from gas explosions, fires, leaks and carbon monoxide poisoning by leaving their home improvement projects in the hands of tradesmen who in turn are subcontracting to dangerous and illegal gas fitters.
In fact, last year over 100,000 home improvement projects across the UK, such as new kitchens and extensions, left homeowners with illegal and dangerous gas work of which they had no knowledge until it was too late, according to annual figures released today by Gas Safe Register’s investigations team.
In this live and interactive WebTV show Phill Brewster from Gas Safe Register and Marcia Morgan who herself fell victim to dodgy repair work will be taking your questions and offering helpful tips and advice to anyone thinking about having any home improvement works done.
Phill Brewster and Marcia Morgan will be live online at studiotalk.tv/show/home-works-and-repairs-clinic-how-gas-safe-is-your-home on Thursday 26th May at midday to discuss house repairs and ensuring your home is gas safe.
