There is nothing like settling down with a good book and, in an effort to encourage reading and creative imagination skills with the nation’s children, this month has been declared ‘National Share-a-Story’ Month.

With schools and book clubs taking part throughout the country, award winning housebuilder Miller Homes has pledged its support and will be holding a book exchange at its newest development Minster View located in the picturesque village of Gringley-on-the-Hill, near the affluent market town of Bawtry, Doncaster.

Residents of the village and visitors to the development will be asked to either donate their unwanted books or exchange an old favourite for one they have not read before. Adults as well children are encouraged to take part and share their stories from Saturday 28th May until Monday 30th May.

“As our new community begins to emerge at Minster View we really want to encourage local residents to share their stories with the village’s newest residents,” commented Ross Clarkson sales manager Miller Homes Yorkshire. “Gringley has a historic and interesting past and to keep this alive we would love to welcome residents and prospective buyers to visit the development over the Bank Holiday weekend and share their books and their stories with us.”

It is hoped that over the weekend several books will be collated. Children’s books that remain after the event will be donated to Gringley Village School whilst adult books will be given to a local residential home.

“National Share-a-Story Month is a great opportunity for residents of the village to regale tales from days gone by of village life or exchange their books and novels with other residents,” commented Ross. “As technology tends to erase some of life’s simple pleasures, we hope to encourage and promote reading and conversation in this lovely village.”

Minster View is a small development of just 68 properties and is ideally located between Bawtry and Gainsborough. Both Doncaster and Retford are within a short driving distance as is the A1(M) which enables residents to enjoy all the benefits of rural living whilst having commuting and shopping facilities close to hand.

Prices start at £199,995 for a three bedroom home up to £370,000 for a stunning five bedroom family home. Full details can be obtained by visiting the sales office which is open Thursday – Monday, 10.30am - 5.30pm.

Minster View can be found at West Wells Lane, Gringley-on-the-Hill, DN10 4FQ.
