Motorpoint challenges supermarket second hand car prices
Motorpoint, the UK car supermarket group, has challenged the myth that cars bought from a supermarket will fetch lower prices on the second hand market. Traditional wisdom suggests that new cars imported from Europe and sold at car supermarkets are of a different specification to UK sourced models and are, therefore, worth less.“Nearly every customer who has bought a car from us returns to buy their next new car and we happily take their car in part exchange”, said David Shelton Motorpoint managing director. “Often these customer cars are over 2 years old and not appropriate for us to retail and so we send them to auctions. Importantly these cars fetch the same price at auction as UK supplied cars”.
New cars sold at Motorpoint are identical in every respects to models supplied by franchised dealers in the UK and will have the balance of the manufacturers warranty in place, usually two or three years, depending on the manufacturer, less a couple of weeks covering the transport time from Europe.
