Herbal Medicine Week event at East Riddlesden Hall

To celebrate Herbal Medicine Week, Medical Herbalist, Jane Ramsden is providing guided herb walks within East Riddlesden Hall.
This 17th century manor house, owned by The National Trust, can be found on a small plateau overlooking a bend in the River Aire in Keighley, West Yorkshire.
Within the award winning gardens lays a tranquil herb interpretation area with an abundance of different species of herb. Jane will be holding guided walks through the herb gardens talking about the culinary and medical properties of the herbs including how they were used traditionally and how they are used today. There will be activities for children including colouring and a 'treasure hunt'. There will be a display of herbal products showing how they are used to make syrups and salves as well as cosmetics.
Commenting on the planned event Jane Ramsden said: "I am looking forward to leading these walks as I know that there is a huge interest in herbal medicine among the general public. I am hoping that people will come forward with their own family remedies and share them with the group. This is a medicine that is literally thousands of years old and is as much part of our heritage as the National Trust."
The guided walks will take place on Saturday 18th, Sunday 19th, Wednesday 22nd, Saturday 25th and Sunday 26th June between 10.30 - 4.30 each day.
