6th June 2011 Print

Texas is expecting over 110,000 additional visitors to the state this winter as Carnival Cruise Lines has announced two additional routes from the Texan port of Galveston.

From 14th November, the brand new Carnival Magic carrying 3,690 passengers will offer seven day Caribbean cruises from Galveston, becoming the largest cruise ship to be based at the port year-round.

Additionally, the company has announced that the 2,758 passenger Carnival Triumph, which currently operates from New Orleans, will relocate to Galveston from 6th October 2011, offering four or five day cruises around the Caribbean.

Galveston Island is located just 50 minutes from Houston International Airport, which has six daily flights direct from London. Just 32 miles long and two and half miles wide, Galveston possesses all the charm of a Southern town, and enjoys pleasant Gulf waters from April to October, with an average summer temperature of 30°C.

Carnival Cruise Lines offers seven-night cruises to the Western Caribbean, departing from Galveston Island on Carnival Magic from £399 per person for the cruise only.
